Gaiman is well know mainly by its Welsh tradition. Its inhabitants take pride on their tea houses, the brick-worked building and the old chapels. Gaiman is by itself a combination of culture and history. As well as Trelew, it is located in the Chubut River Valley and that is why it is an oasis within the great dry ecosystem of NE of Chubut. It is a small farming village with less than 10.000 permanent inhabitants who are devoted mainly to farming activities: small farms and smallholdings with artificial watering system by means of water canals.
Ther you can visit the first house of the village, built by Mr. Davis D. Roberts in 1874 and where the first white man of Gaiman, Mr. Idris Dewi Roberts, was born; You can alsosee the Bethel chapel, built in 1914; the over 200 mts. tunnel of the former Patagonian Railway Line (1914); The Ricardo J. Berwyn Library and the regional Museum situated in the old railway station.
Today Gaiman offers not only the possibility of staying there and of trying international food, but also the chance of going for a walk along the riverbank and its peaceful streets.
